Preferred Builder Program

Armour Homes is building a national brand on the platform of STRONG, DURABLE, GREEN and AFFORDABLE homes. Our program is most efficient when we can source local contractors to complete our homes after the hardened shell has been completed. This allows Armour Homes to deliver low-cost safe sustainable shelter, no matter the location.

When our customers choose the 90% Complete or Turnkey home option it frees up our crews if we have a preferred builder in that location to work with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Armour Homes has ventured into a new realm of housing construction that requires a paradigm shift from the way homes have traditionally been built.

There's a old saying: You'll never receive a different result by always trying the same approach. Housing, historically has been price driven and rightfully so. If, you cannot afford it, other features don't really matter. At Armour Homes, we've said, let's design a home that is durable, sustainable, safe and marketable. Then, after achieving these four goals, we'll work on price to make it affordable, while keeping the four goals paramount.

Armour Homes design comes from the harmony existing within round spaces found in nature. Therefore, we chose the turtle as our logo, as it represents similar qualities and features. A turtle has a circular hardened shell for defensive purposes and an Armour Home is constructed of a concrete shell for defensive purposes. The turtle has existed for millions of years by adapting and coexisting with its environment. Armour Homes is designed to coexist with nature without being destroyed.

The following are some FAQs, it will be our pleasure to provide you with additional information to assist you in making an informed decision.

Q. How do you make sure each home is built and constructed to your design standards?

A. In addition to the traditional government agencies that provide inspections to new home construction, Armour Homes employs an independent laboratory to test the concrete shell, ensuring quality that meets and/or exceeds required levels for hurricane and tornado rating warranties.

Q. Do you sale a kit package for homeowner to install?

A. No, we sale a shell home that includes labor and material. The owner has the option to complete as a DIY project or we will complete to 90% or Turnkey as described in pricing pages.

Q. Do you have structural designs that meet coastal requirements?

A. Every Armour Home structure is designed and built to the same strength specifications, which exceeds any government regulations in the USA. Armour Homes' goal is, to accomplish a uniform structure that we are confident will withstand extreme weather conditions, no matter your geographical location.

Q. Are your walls made of panel sections?

A. Armour Homes is unlike most roundhouses as the exterior walls are truly circular, our stay in place block form is made of 85% recycled Styrofoam and cement with poured in place concrete, not 4 or 8 foot flat panels set in a circle.

Q. With a concrete roof, how many support columns are there to work around when laying out a floor plan or furniture?

A. Armour Homes design eliminates load bearing points, typical in standard construction, thereby allowing Armour Homes to have no interior bearing walls, thus giving maximum flexibility for interior design.

Q. How energy efficient is a Armour Home compared to a conventional home?

A. A standard Armour Home comes with an insulating value of R-26 on the walls, R-48 on the roof...but, the R factor is just part of the equation in heating and cooling energy efficiently. Air filtration is arguably the most important component when maintaining an airtight home. By using the same concrete construction for the roof as for the walls, Armour Homes accomplishes an airtight home and we have recorded savings of 40% to 50%.

Q. How can Armour Homes achieve durability, efficiency and be eco-friendly with comparable prices to traditional home pricing?

A. Armour Homes uses a Mobile Manufacturing Program (MMP)combining: 1.the quality of offsite manufacturing 2.ease of site building 3.cost savings of multi- use form system.

Q. Other than the Green effect of having a sod/soil roof, are there other positives/negatives of this type of roof?

A. The soil roof accomplishes much more than just the green features of reduced runoff, island heat effect and energy savings. It prevents direct sunlight to the roof membrane, thereby extending the roof life cycle 2 to 3 times. No shingles or tile to fade or replace. No damage from wind or hail storms and additional insulated value, no attic to heat, cool or vent!
